Student Success with Remote Learning

How to Succeed While Learning Remotely

Check Messages Daily

Daily Messages

Make sure to check your messages every day! There are two places where you will be getting messages:

Blackboard Messages

  • Blackboard is the learning management system that your class is housed. Log on and enter each of your classes and check for course messages from your instructors or classmates.
  • If you ever need help with Blackboard, here's the support link: Student Online Support!

RCC Emails

  • Your Student Email is another place you need to check, so log into Outlook with your RCC email address and your password.
  • Check your "Focused" inbox and your "Other" inbox.
    • Focused emails are those that those that Outlook decides are more important to you.
    • Other are those that are not so important.
  • Check both in case there's something you need to know in Other
  • Bonus!: your Outlook program also provides download of software for free. Go to the upper left-hand corner. You'll see a little grid. Click and you'll find Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, and others, to download on your personal computer.

Remember it's important for you to Communicate, Communicate, Communicate! No matter what's happening in your life that may be affecting your work, you can talk to your instructor. They will want to figure out how to help you, but they can't help you if you go "Radio Silent" during any problems you may come across.
